On May 21, 2026, the City of Antigo Street Department installed newly painted art banners on the light poles along the north side of the 900 block of 5th Avenue in downtown Antigo. Photos of the installation are included with this release.
The banners feature original artwork created by Mary Hayes and Kim Schoenrock of Antigo Visual Arts (AVA). An additional banner by Pat Packard is currently in progress and will be installed at a later date.
This project was made possible through a collaborative effort between the City of Antigo Street Department and AVA, continuing a shared commitment to public art, downtown beautification, and support for local artists.
“AVA is thankful for our partnership with the City of Antigo,” said Danna Gabriel, president of AVA. “The city has supported our mural program through facade grant funding that helps beautify downtown, and they continue to collaborate with us on other community art projects that give local artists visibility and strengthen our creative economy. It’s meaningful to work with a city that recognizes the important role the arts play in economic development.”
Community members and visitors are encouraged to take a drive or walk through downtown Antigo to enjoy the new artwork and experience the growing presence of public art throughout the city. The banners add color, creativity, and a unique local touch to the downtown corridor while celebrating the talent of area artists.
