Kim Schoenrock

Featured Artist - 2026 July

Kim Schoenrock is the Antigo Visual Arts Artist of the Month for July.

Kim grew up in New London and became interested in art as a child, and that interest continues to grow. She received a BS in art education from UW-Stout, continued her studies at UW-Stevens Point, and as a life-long-learner, keeps working in various mediums including pottery, tatting, painting, sketching, sculpting, and pretty much anything else related to the visual arts. Kim recently retired from the Elcho School District where she taught art for 37 years in every grade from pre-kindergarten through senior high. In that time, she eventually taught the grandchildren of some of her earliest students, and enjoyed every minute of it. Her school activities went far beyond the classroom. She would design and build sets for the school’s drama productions, embolden students to create elaborate decorations for proms, and held after school art classes for teachers to help them unwind from the day-to-day stresses of the classroom. She also painted the murals in the gyms at Elcho and White Lake. In addition to her role as an educator, she’s developed logos for several local businesses, organizations, and community events.

She’s currently managing the AVA Art Center in Aspen Village, located next to Remington Lake at 1350 Hogan Street, where she continues to teach children and adults who want to develop their creative outlet through the visual arts. To find a schedule of Kim’s classes which will be held throughout the summer, visit the AVA website by going to antigovisualarts.org.
